Equipment Hire :: Uidheam air Mhàl

The club owns over 30 boats; each with a full set of equipment (except wetsuits). There are river/general purpose kayaks, sea kayaks, pool kayaks, surf kayaks and open Canadians available for hire. Check out the Boat Availability page to see what's available and when.

Equipment is available for hire by club members only. Hire is subject to availability and priority is given to club events and/or trips; all hires are subject to the club's equipment hire policy, with which members should be familiar.

The cost of hire, which has been revised for the period 2009/10, is as follows:

  • For kayaks used on club trips/courses: £5.00 per person, per day.
  • For kayaks used on non-club activities (inc. private trips/commercial training courses): £10.00 per person, per day.
  • For open boats used on club trips/courses: £5.00 per boat, per day;
  • For open boats used on non-club activities (inc. private trips/commercial training courses): £10.00 per boat, per day;

These costs include soft kit (bouyancy aids, spraydecks etc.) and paddles if needed.

To hire our boats, it is necessary to contact a volunteer hirer well in advance to arrange the booking and collection; same day pick up will not be possible. Please also bear in mind that these people are all volunteers who hire-out equipment in their own spare time. There can be a great demand for boats, especially in the summer months, and dealing with the hire requests can be a time consuming task. Please do not call before 9am or after 9pm.

Newsflash

There are still places for a fantastic weekend of open canoeing on both Loch and the River Tay...

Weekend of 27/28 February 2010.

We plan to....
  • Go exploring on Loch Tay
  • Teach/practice poling
  • Demo some sailing rigs and go sailing
  • Tour round the crannog
  • Take a leisurely decent of the River Tay - Kenmore to Grandtully!
  • Practice some tracking and lining skills
  • Explore a fantastic canoeing river (with no fishermen around)
  • And play canoe games down Grandtully (for those who fancy a challenge)
If you fancy it, or what more information, please contact Donald MacPherson as soon as possible.

There are currently spare seats in cars and on the canoe trailer for transporting canoes down there for you.

Accommodation is available too, with breakfast, and we will be hiring some poles and sails to use as a group.

The weekend will cost you only £25pp.
