COVID-19 update, August 2020: the Coronavirus pandemic has meant that all Club activities have been suspended during summer 2020. As Club paddling can now resume, we are looking to organise events and trips in line with Government/SCA guidance. All trips must be pre-booked and will be announced by email to the sea kayaking list.
Ahoy there sea kayakers!
So you have completed the Introduction to Paddlesports course and want to know what’s next? Or you may have just joined Inverness Canoe Club and want to know what opportunities exist for sea kayaking in the club. Well the good news is that there’s plenty going on, and it’s all very sociable. We try to make it as inclusive as possible and as varied as possible.
The sea paddlers meet between May and September at various locations around the Black Isle each Wednesday evening (and occasionally also from Nairn). For more details about Wednesday evenings, please see here.
In addition to the regular Wednesday evenings, day and weekend (and occasionally longer) trips are arranged throughout the year. For more details, please see here.
The club has a mixed fleet of 12 sea kayaks - including 2 doubles - which are available for members to hire at a cost of £5 per day for club events and £10 per day for non-club events. Hire of a sea kayak includes a paddle, buoyancy aid, spray deck and cag. There will be a designated hirer at Muirtown Basin on Wed evenings. The organiser of day and weekend trips will co-ordinate hire of club kayaks for their trip. Please be aware that no club boats are to be used in advanced sea conditions (i.e. force 5 or above, more than 3 miles off-shore or between islands).
